WorldWide IDEA

Enrollment in our Remote Location Academy

The Remote Location Academy can enroll eligible students at any time. It is a comprehensive, secular private school that specifically works with military and other government-sponsored families who educate their children in the home. Eligible families are generally dependents of service members and DoD civilians, who reside in areas not served by a DoD dependents school or for whom a DoDEA school is not available.

These families who enroll in our private school are usually eligible for funding for educational materials and resources through the DoD NDSP or through the State Department.

More Frequently Asked Questions

Families are eligible to enroll in our private school if they qualify for the Non-DoD Schools Program (NDSP) program or the State Department tuition reimbursement program. Contact your supervisor for more information about enrolling in the WorldWide IDEA private school.

Will I receive any financial support?

Why would I want to enroll in WorldWide IDEA, when I can get more money through the NDSP homeschool program?

It is true that by enrolling in WorldWide IDEA you will not have as much cash available for your homeschool as you do through Non DoD Schools Homeschool Program (NDSP). However, there are many other factors to consider. For example, by being enrolled in WorldWide IDEA, students have accredited transcripts and, upon graduation, accredited diplomas. This can be particularly important to students, depending on the direction they take after graduation or when integrating into another school upon completion of the remote tour.

To quantitatively compare WorldWide IDEA and NDSP, we suggest that you identify and calculate the expenses you would likely incur during your school year. Then, check off which expenses would be reimbursable under the NDSP guidelines and which would be reimbursable as a WorldWide IDEA family. Also, keep in mind that while NDSP offers more money, WorldWide IDEA offers additional, qualitative benefits, which includes accreditation, better support and more learning and networking opportunities.
